Family Friendly Stargazing

Discover the Stars—and Adventure for the Whole Family.

We believe the magic of the Blue Mountains night sky should be enjoyed by people of all ages, which is why we welcome participants as young as 4 on many of our family-friendly stargazing tours.

There’s something truly magical about stepping outside, away from city lights, and seeing the stars come alive with your loved ones. Our family-friendly stargazing tours are designed to inspire curiosity, spark conversations, and create memories that last a lifetime.

Why Choose Blue Mountains Stargazing for Your Family?

  1. A Fun & Engaging Experience for All Ages

We make astronomy easy to understand and exciting! Whether it’s your child seeing Saturn’s rings for the first time, or the craters of the Moon, or grandparents sharing stories under the Milky Way, our tours are designed to capture everyone’s imagination.

  2. Hands-On Learning
Kids (and adults!) can look through high-powered telescopes, binoculars, and discover how to navigate using the stars. We love answering questions and helping young explorers connect with the universe in a meaningful way.

  3. Safe & Comfortable Setting
Our outdoor location in the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains is dark enough to see incredible detail, yet easy to access for families. We provide seating, blankets, and warm hot choccie to ensure everyone is comfortable while gazing at the stars.

  4. Relaxed and welcoming – We create a calm, no-pressure environment where kids are encouraged to ask questions and be curious.

A Unique Way to Connect as a Family

In today’s busy world, it’s rare to simply pause and look up together. Our tours provide a rare opportunity to reconnect – with nature, the cosmos, and each other. Many families tell us that our stargazing experience is the highlight of their Blue Mountains trip.

Destination NSW / Blue Mountains Stargazing

Our Beautiful Location: Wentworth Picnic Area

We are proud to host our tours from the serene and scenic Wentworth Falls Picnic Area, nestled in the heart of the Blue Mountains National Park. This peaceful spot offers the perfect blend of natural beauty and accessibility (visit our Accessibility Page), making it an ideal base for families and groups to gather before or after their stargazing adventure. One of the reasons why we chose this location, is because it is pram-friendly and wheelchair-friendly.

Picnic and Relaxation

The Wentworth Falls Picnic Area features plenty of shaded picnic tables and grassy spaces where families can enjoy a relaxed meal surrounded by towering eucalyptus trees and native wildlife. It’s the perfect place to unpack a picnic basket, stretch out a blanket, and soak in the fresh mountain air while kids explore safely nearby. Please ensure you leave no trace in the beautiful ecosystem so everybody can enjoy this beauty.

Waterfalls Nearby

Just a short walk from the picnic area, you’ll discover stunning waterfalls that add to the magic of this location. The sound of cascading water and the cool mist offer a refreshing experience during the day — and a tranquil backdrop as the sun sets and the stars begin to appear.

Stunning Lookout Views

Our lookout point is conveniently located close to the picnic area, providing breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and cliffs. As dusk falls, it transforms into the perfect stargazing spot, far from city lights but close to nature’s wonders.
