FAQ

What happens in case of bad weather?

Cloudy and rainy stargazing is no fun. To make sure we offer you the best stargazing experience, we will email you at 1 pm on the day of the tour if we need to cancel. More notice may be possible upon request, however we need to check the latest weather forecast.

In the case of cancellation due to overcast skies, we will give you 2 options:

  1. Choose to receive a gift voucher/ credit to reschedule your tour (transferable to other people as a Gift Card) valid for 3 years

  2. Choose to attend our alternative 90-min indoor Planetarium Astronomy tour located in a closed venue in Leura. It is an immersive and interactive astronomy tour led by an astronomer taking place inside a dome with a powerful projector and surround sound.

No refund will be offered in case of cancellation due to bad weather.
For more details, please check our Cancellation Policies.

I can’t find the date I want in the calendar. Can I request a specific date?

Sure thing! Please feel free to contact us to request a date that suits you and we will try our best to accomodate you!

We may run tours during the week or outside our scheduled tours, however we require a minimum of eight (week) to ten people (weekend).

How old must my children be to join the tour?

The tour is designed to suit children who are 4 years old and above.

Younger children may join the tour, however we estimate that the tour can be quite challenging to follow at such a young age, they might not be able to get the most out of our tours.

Young children are welcome to come along free of charge (less than 3 years old), however we do ask the parents to be mindful of the sea of tranquillity of other guests during the tour.

What is the best time to join a tour?

The Earth orbits around the Sun in 12 months. As a consequence, the landscape of our starry nights changes a lot throughout the year!

At times you will see the Moon, other times the Milky Way, Mars could be up there, or Saturn, or Jupiter, or Orion. It’s all season dependent.

Here are some pointers: if you like the Moon, come up a night of gibbous night (a few days before or after the Full Moon). If you like the Milky Way, come on a New Moon or when the Moon is set. If you’re unsure, nights with a thin Moon crescent are the best.

If there’s a specific planet or constellation you’d like to see in particular, shoot us an email and we’ll reply to you with a suitable time window to see that object.

Which tour is the best? After sunset or the second tour?

We may run two tours per night (three on Saturdays in Winter), the value of all the tours is equal, the telescope objects are similar. Our first tour starts 30 minutes after sunset, stars start to be visible at the end of the introduction and you will be fully immersed in the dark. We have more kids on the first tour. So, it really depends whether you prefer to have dinner before or after the tour :).

How do I redeem my Gift Voucher?

Someone just offered you a Gift Voucher, you must be awesome! To redeem the Gift Voucher:

  1. Pick your date

  2. Check the availability on the calendar

  3. Copy and paste the gift voucher code at checkout

Are we alone in the Universe?

We love these questions! Silly questions, strange questions, existential questions, million-dollar questions, they are all welcome during our tours! Come as you are and ask any questions during our tours. Our tours are interactive so don’t be shy!

How to get there without a car?

You can join our NEW Twilight & Stargazing with Transport package! We are aiming at offering these tours one Wednesday per month. Feel free to request a date outside these dates as we will try our best to find a solution for you with a local driver in Sydney.

Alternatively, you can catch the train with Blue Mountains line at Central station in Sydney, it is a direct 2-hour scenic train. The station is Wentworth Falls station.

There are not many Uber drivers in the mountains unfortunately. Once you arrive at Wentworth Falls station, you can book a local taxi for a 6-min drive to Wentworth Falls picnic area, Wentworth Falls lookout.

Here are two local numbers:

+614 23 890 670 (Blue Mountains Maxi Taxi)

+612 47 821 311 (Katoomba Taxis)

We would recommend to book a taxi to pick you up after the tour.

The planetarium venue is in Leura, you can take the train until Leura station, book a taxi or and for 25 minutes to the Planetarium venue at 77 Scott avenue.
