We blend breathtaking Night Sky tours with outstanding dining experiences by bringing our astrotours into uncharted territories. Our bespoke events include collaborations with local businesses such as our popular Wine Tasting Stargazing with Dryridge Estate, Stargazing Dinner Under the Dome with The Bunker Leura and more ― the sky’s the limit.
Tour Setup: Collaborate with the Stargazing Guide to prepare for the tour. This includes lifting or moving equipment.
Welcome Guests: Greet guests of all ages with a friendly and warm welcome, deliver a brief welcome introduction, and serve hot chocolates.
Operate the telescope, ensuring guests enjoy an outstanding and memorable viewing experience.
Wrap Up and Return to HQ: Pack up all equipment after the tour and safely transport it back to HQ (6-minute drive).
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Current Driver’s License and own a car: Ability to travel to and from HQ. Use the company vehicle during the shifts.

THE ROLE
Deliver captivating and inspiring 90-min Stargazing, Planetarium tours (indoor tours) and Online tours to guests of all ages
Keep an audience of 20 guests entertained and engaged throughout the tour (private tours, public tours, corporate groups and school groups)
Answer guests’ questions
Set up the tour and telescopes, planetarium, projector. This involves being able to stand for extended periods of time, sometimes in cold weather, and to lift and move telescopes and equipment (up to 20 kgs)
Encourage tour feedback and reviews
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Excellent knowledge of astronomy and current space news (minimum two-year experience as an Astronomy Tour Guide or University degree in Astronomy or related field)
Exceptional people skills and interpersonal skills
Confident public speaker
Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific information to people of all ages and levels
Demonstrated teaching and/or guiding experience in astronomy is preferred
Proficiency in using the most recent computerised telescopes is a plus
Available in the evening on weekends
Current Car Driver’s license
Own car (company vehicle used by co-hosts to trasnport all the gear)
Valid working visa in Australia
Valid Working With Children Check to be acquired before start

The founders are French-Australian couple Dimitri Douchin and Caroline Boulom. Dimitri is a rising astronomer with a passion for communication, humanity and culture. He has been featured on Channel 9, the ABC and has given a TEDx talk in Katoomba about Cultural Astronomy. Caroline has a Master’s degree in Marketing from ISC Paris business school and worked for Yahoo in Paris and Nine Entertainment in Sydney before launching her own heartfelt business venture.
THE ROLE
We are seeking an intern available about 8 hours per week across 1 or 2 days. The position is not remunerated. Work can be done from anywhere with online access.
This position is perfect for someone who wants a taste of different projects of business development every week, or a candidate interested in launching their own business. You’ll be involved in a variety of tasks, including:
Graphic Design: Creating visuals for our marketing materials and social media
School Programs Deployment: Assisting in the development and deployment of our astronomy education stream in partnership with schools and CSIRO.
Stargazing Events: Organising unique, out of this world stargazing experiences with new and existing partners
Business Operations: Getting a taste of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our business running smoothly.
Side Quests: taking astronomy as far as we can leads us to being proactive in fields such as the advocacy of Dark Sky Preservation or Indigenous Astronomy.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
A creative and proactive individual with curiosity for tourism, education, business, marketing or operations
Basic skills in office, graphic design and social media management
A willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges
A friendly and collaborative attitude
Interest in astronomy is a plus but not required
