Embark on a captivating space journey in the timeless beauty of the World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains skies. Join us for a fun, interactive and insightful sky watching nocturnal tour, stargazing experience and fascinating storytelling.
This tour is the perfect night out for all ages, date nights, families, groups and locals, this unforgettable tour features Australia’s spectacular night sky away from the city lights. A wonderful opportunity to experience the Southern Sky and its celestial wonders only visible from the Southern hemisphere.
Your Mission to Space
Astrophysicist Dimitri Douchin, PhD and his partner Caroline will be your hosts on this voyage into space.
This journey will include:
- Introduction of the history of the Blue Mountains through time
- Naked-eye Astronomy
- Tips and hacks on how to identify stars and constellation storytelling
- Introduction to the celestial dance of planets, satellites, navigation, the Universe, our home Galaxy and beyond...
You will then observe through the professional-grade telescope objects such as (depending on the time of year and night):
- The Moon and its craters and seas
- Saturn’s rings
- The moons of Jupiter
- Mars & Venus
- The Orion Nebula
- Star clusters
- Double & triple stars
- Deep space objects such as galaxies and our fabulous Milky Way
- Shooting stars if you are lucky!
Your expert guide, Dr Dimitri Douchin will delve into the study of every object and answer all your questions.

Professional Computerised Telescope (we are COVID safe, the telescope will be wiped between each group)

Maximum of 20 guests
Ages 4 and up
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
Parents may also bring children under 3 years of age (free), please be mindful of the other guests’ tranquility during the tour
All guests must keep a safe physical distance with a no-contact greeting
We’re doggo-friendly! The site is wide enough for our furry friends, we kindly ask you to keep your dog on a leash

Tour Times
We operate each Friday, Saturday, Sunday and every night during NSW school holidays
We may run two tours per night, the value of the two tours are equal, the telescope objects are similar
Twilight: A first tour starting 30 minutes after sunset, stars start to be visible at the end of the introduction, ideal for families, great to witness the fabulous sunset at the lookout for the introduction, then being fully immersed in a dark sky
Dark Sky: A second tour starting 90 minutes after the start of the Twilight tour

Cancellations
Please be aware that astronomy tours are weather dependent, they may be canceled in case of cloud cover meaning no visible stars
If we need to cancel the tour, you will receive a cancellation email 2 hours before the start of the tour
Please check your inbox, if you haven’t received a cancellation email, it means the tour is confirmed; a bit more notice may be possible upon request, however, we need to check the latest weather forecast
In case of a weather cancellation, no refund will be offered, we will issue Gift vouchers valid for 2 years, transferrable to other people
